This type of coral, discovered in early 1900s, existed in only one place in the world, Island Sciacca, near Sicily.
In 1950s, its mining was restricted, due to the exhaustion of the species population.
That is why, jewelry made of Sciacca corals is deemed to be especially rare and valuable.
